We took a chance on Pop Rocks for our September 2010 wedding at Beaulieu in Rutherford and, boy, did it pay off!
We live in Chicago and weren’t able to go see them perform so, naturally, we sent a trusted bridesmaid and her boyfriend to go hear them play at Red Devil Lounge. She came back with great reviews but said that they “might be a little on the crazy side for the older crowd.” Fast forward 10 months and 9 days later, after we’ve hired them without ever seeing them, after we are past the point of no return, and they are rocking out our wedding. Literally, EVERYONE is on the dance floor–old and young alike, and they are playing everything from 80s hits (for us) to Sinatra (for my dad) to Miley Cyrus (for my nieces). And let me tell you, my family is not a family of dancers. It was awesome to see a bunch of old Chinese folks getting down to Guns and Roses and Kings of Leon.
If you even for one second look at them and their set list and think, they’re not for us because they (i) look too wild or (ii) seem unpredictable or (iii) don’t have enough range because they’re a band full of dudes, STOP yourself and rest assured that these guys and their management (Jay and Kalie) are consummate professionals who know how to adjust their performance to suit their surroundings, have incredible range, know how to get the party started and, most importantly, how to close the deal with everyone begging for more.
